With effect from 1 October 2019, Reudink, a division of the ForFarmers group and active in organic animal feed, and SilFit will expand their logistics collaboration. SilFit, a subsidiary of Nijhof-Wassink that already provides part of the current transport activities, will oversee all bulk deliveries from Reudink. Central to the collaboration are the high levels of service for organic farmers and the sustainability of transport.
“The work ethic at Nijhof-Wassink and our subsidiary SilFit are a perfect match with the values represented by Reudink. We are delighted to start a working partnership" says Martin Schoemaker, General Manager Feed Logistics at Nijhof-Wassink. Silfit is a logistics service provider, specialised in logistics planning aimed at optimising the supply chain of organisations. From 1 October, SilFit will take on a coordinating role in planning transport movements of all franco deliveries of bulk from Reudink. Various logistics service providers are involved in the transport planning provided by SilFit. The familiar Reudink livery bulk trailers remain active in delivering feed to customers.
Wilfred Jonkman, Reudink Director: “The specialism offered by SilFit is in line with our objective of organising feed transport to our customers as efficiently as possible and of taking service provision to the next level. SilFit will be tasked with transport planning, a process you want to organise as smartly as possible. The transport distances from the production facility to our customers, organic livestock farmers, are relatively large and our commitment through this form of collaboration is to reduce so-called ‘empty kilometres’, to reflect our sustainability objectives.”
