History

ON THE ROAD SINCE 1967

The history of Nijhof-Wassink starts in Wierden (Overijssel). In the sixties of the last century, Harman Nijhof and Evert Wassink there, owned a transport company, each separately. On 1 January 1967 they decided to join forces. Below is the timeline of the Nijhof-Wassink Group with key moments in the history of our transport company Nijhof-Wassink and our Volvo and Renault Truck dealership Nijwa Groep.

Harman Nijhof starts his own transport company in Wierden

Nijhof-Wassink established

Harman Nijhof and Evert Wassink decide to join forces

01-01-1968

Sub-dealership Volvo Commercial vehicles in Twente

Expansion of the activities soon follows with the sub-dealership of Volvo Commercial Vehicles in Twente.

Main dealership Volvo Commercial vehicles

The garage activities continue under the company name Nijwa B.V.

01-07-1980

The sons of Evert and Harman join the company

Erik Wassink and Freddy Nijhof make their entrance.

01-10-1981

Relocation Nijwa to Rijssen

Nijwa Zwolle is opened

Through the acquisition of the dealership in Northeastern Overijssel Nijwa Zwolle is born.

Opening office Nijhof-Wassink Rijssen

Relocation of the office building and fleet from Wierden to Rijssen.

Evert Wassink (r) resigns as director

The co-founder van Nijhof-Wassink joins the Supervisory Board.

ISO 9002 certification

In 1990 Nijhof-Wassink Transport becomes one of the first transport companies in the Netherlands to be certified according to ISO 9002 quality standards.

Nijhof-Wassink Sp. z oo is established

Nijhof-Wassink Poland is established for transport activities and the Volvo Trucks dealer activities.

Freddy Nijhof succeeds Harman Nijhof as CEO

Opening new office building in Kutno, Poland

Opening of a new building that offers space to the Volvo Trucks dealer activities.

Acquisition Volvo dealer Tarnowo Podgorne, Poland

Expansion of the Volvo Trucks dealer activities.

Acquisition Rijssense Transport Centrale

RTC is specialised in international tank transports.

Start Nijhof-Wassink Germany

With the acquisition of the German RTC-branch in Horstel Nijhof-Wassink is also gaining a foothold in Germany.

Opening Nowa branch Wies Wielka, Poland

Expansion of the Polish Volvo Trucks dealer activities.

Opening Rzgow branch (Poland)

Expansion of the Polish Volvo Trucks dealer activities.

Opening Székesfehérvár branch, Hungary

A new branch for the logistics activities.

Formation CTT (Combi Terminal Twente) in Hengelo

Nijhof-Wassink is for 25% shareholder of CTT.

Harman Nijhof resigns from his positions in management

The Nijhof family takes over the shares of the Wassink family.

Acquisition Viking Trucks

In July 2006 Nijwa acquires Viking Trucks. This creates the current Nijwa-branches in Beilen and Veenoord, Groningen and Veendam.

Nijwa Trucks offers maintenance and repair of all truck, commercial vehicle and trailer brands.

Co-founder Harman Nijhof has passed away

Harman was a passionate and inspired entrepreneur with a great love for the profession. His eye for discipline, order and tidiness has taken our companies far. With Harman Nijhof the Nijhof-Wassink family loses a great inspirator, visionary and ambassador.

Nijhof-Wassink acquires Ecotrans

Ecotrans is a specialist in bulk and general cargo transport of animal feeds, premixes, fertiliser and other agricultural products. In 2023, Ecotrans was sold.
