Keep up bonding!

blog

To create bonds with our colleagues and keep them stimulated, it’s a good idea to evaluate your role as employer from time to time. The opinion of our employees is very important in this respect. We recently conducted an employee survey, where we asked our colleagues about where we’re doing well, and where there’s room for improvement. We also looked at developments in the labour market, to get a perspective from outside the company. What creates bonds and keeps colleagues stimulated these days? And how do we want to make the difference that will attract enough employees and continue to challenge our current colleagues? In short, how do you remain attractive as an employer?

At Nijhof-Wassink we’ve already done quite a lot for our colleagues, but is it enough and how well are we doing? To make this clear and to find out whether we need to come up with new ideas, we’ve mapped out the employee journey within our company. We’ve broken this down into 3 phases of working at the company: 1. the onboarding period. This is from the moment you apply until the end of the trial period. 2. The second phase is the period of working at Nijhof-Wassink. 3 The last period is the period after leaving Nijhof-Wassink. We brainstormed with a group of colleagues from different departments of our company to find out the basic conditions for being a good employer in each phase, and the times we want to create a ‘wow’ effect. When do we want to score a 6 as an employer, and when do we want to score a 9? It’s very interesting working on this with colleagues from different disciplines of the company. For example, we came to the conclusion that we should make the period around the appointment even more personal. We’re still looking at the best way to go about achieving this. We’ve been putting some ideas into practice for quite a while; for example, every quarter, our new colleagues get together for a meeting at our head offi ce, when we welcome our new colleagues at Nijhof-Wassink with a tour and introduction to our colleagues and the company, This initiative has been a great success. Working on these ideas binds me and generates enthusiasm too!
